To be honest, consistency (habit formation) is everything!
In this article, I will be consciously or unconsciously referring to James Clear’s amazing book, Atomic Habits: Tiny Changes, Remarkable Results. It cannot be overemphasized that what you do consistently, over a while, changes your life.
This article is particularly about how you can achieve that seemingly overwhelming task by first, breaking it down into chunks and biting that chunk today, and tomorrow and the next tomorrow and this month and for the rest of the year and ultimately for the rest of your life.
In one of Debola-Deji Kurunmi’s (DDK) podcasts about Scheduling Mastery during Activation Intensive program, she said and I paraphrase,
“Look at life in the currency of time, look at your life as a daily investment. Start today, start now.”
I find this a profound approach to forming healthy habits and consequently, dropping unhealthy ones.
“Whether it is losing weight, building a business, writing a book, winning a championship, or achieving any other goal, we put pressure on ourselves to make some earth-shattering improvement that everyone will talk about. Meanwhile, improving by 1 percent isn’t particularly notable — sometimes it isn’t even noticeable — but it can be far more meaningful, especially in the long run. The difference a tiny improvement can make over time is astounding. Here’s how the math works out: if you can get 1 percent better each day for one year, you’ll end up thirty-seven times better by the time you’re done. Conversely, if you get 1 percent worse each day for one year, you’ll decline nearly down to zero. What starts as a small win or a minor setback accumulates into something much more.” — James Clear.
Wow! Just look at that!
I don’t like to talk much and this sort of reflects in my writing style LOL. But I hope that this article is enough to push you to start.
You can win this and I am rooting for you.
